Week 16 - Live From Sports Planet

You join us here live at Sports Planet in the East where Arun and I are sat at a registration desk helping out the organisers with a one-day tournament.

We met with the guys from Sports Planet last week, and they seemed keen to try out the software - but their main use would be in running regular one-day tournaments for various corporate clients. This was not something that we had in the code base last Friday and we agreed to run in parallel with their current spreadsheets today (Saturday). Easy, right?

We had planned to build cups this week anyway so it then simply became a race against time. So it's been an exciting and tiring few days, the World Cup Final early on Monday didn't help, as we blazed through the code required to run a 16 team tournament. 4 groups of 4 teams in league format, then quarter-finals, semis and final.

It's not as flexible as we'd like, so it's not available on the main site yet. We'll be continuing to work on it next week to introduce the flexibility it needs to launch to everyone.

We'll also be factoring in the feedback as we go through using the tool in anger.

It's also great to sit down with customers to understand the pain points that they have when running events like this.
